What you need before adding the widget

Install Quran Widget from the App Store, open it once, and let a verse finish loading. Choose the translation you want in the app before adding the widget.

Apple introduced Lock Screen widgets in iOS 16. Quran Widget’s current widget extension requires iOS 16.2 or later; check the App Store listing for the current app’s device requirements. A managed phone or a different Lock Screen configuration can affect which controls you see.

How to put a Quran verse on your iPhone Lock Screen

Keep the phone unlocked while you make these changes. The Lock Screen and Home Screen use separate widget galleries.

  1. Touch and hold the Lock Screen, then tap Customize.
  2. Choose Lock Screen and tap the widget area below the clock. If it is full, remove a widget to make room.
  3. Find Quran Widget or Qur’an Widget in the list and choose Daily Verse. This is the free Lock Screen option.
  4. Close the widget picker and tap Done. Lock the phone and check that the verse appears.
  5. To change the verse or translation, open the app and make your choice, then give iOS time to refresh the widget.

Which Quran Lock Screen widget is free?

Daily Verse is free on iPhone. You can use it without subscribing. The Classic verse widget on the Home Screen is also free.

Premium adds separate Lock Screen widgets such as Arabic, translation, verse reference, surah name, Bismillah, quotes, streak and reading statistics. Pick the free Daily Verse option if you do not want a Premium widget. Removing a widget does not cancel a subscription.

Arabic, translation and limited Lock Screen space

A Lock Screen widget has much less room than a medium or large Home Screen widget. Longer ayahs or translations can be shortened to fit. Tap through to read the complete verse in the app.

If reading both Arabic and a longer translation is your priority, add a larger Home Screen widget as well. Start with a short verse when checking the layout and choose a contrast you can read against your wallpaper.

Quran Widget not showing in the Lock Screen list?

First open the installed app and wait for a verse to load. Then close and reopen the Lock Screen widget picker. If the name still does not appear, restart the iPhone and check that the app is up to date.

Check that you are editing the Lock Screen, not the Home Screen, and that there is room below the clock. Remove an existing widget if necessary. If a widget is blank, open the app, load a verse, then remove and add that widget again.

iOS schedules widget updates. A widget is not a continuously running app, so a verse or translation change may not appear immediately. If the issue continues, contact support with your iPhone model, iOS version, app version and the widget name. Do not send private reading history.

Can I add a Quran Lock Screen widget on Android?

Android Lock Screen widget support depends on the Android version, manufacturer and launcher. Our Android setup guide covers the supported Home Screen flow. We do not promise an iPhone-style Lock Screen setup on every Android phone.

For Android, start with the Home Screen widget. If your device offers Lock Screen widgets, follow its manufacturer’s instructions and check whether Quran Widget is available in that picker. A verse wallpaper is a picture and does not behave like a native verse widget.
