Read the verse in its context
A daily verse is a place to begin reading. Follow the surah reference and read the surrounding passage, rather than treating a short excerpt as the whole message.
The Arabic text and named English translation are stored with their source references. The English rendering here is M. M. Pickthall’s 1930 translation; a translation conveys meaning and does not replace the Arabic Quran.
Take a daily ayah onto your phone
The website is available without installing anything. If you want a verse on your phone’s Home Screen, download Quran Widget and choose the free Classic verse widget. On iPhone, the Daily Verse Lock Screen widget is also free.
Choose your translation in the app and load a verse before adding the widget. The mobile app’s verse can differ from the website’s seven-verse rotation; they are not synchronized.
Arabic with a translation you can read
For a quick glance, a short verse and a high-contrast widget can work well. For a longer ayah or translation, use a larger Home Screen layout and open the app to read the complete text.
In the mobile app you can choose from the available translation resources, save verses and share a formatted card. Check the translation attribution and verse reference when sharing.
Questions about Quran widgets

The full verse, Arabic text, named English translation and reference are displayed above. This website changes its selection at midnight UTC using a seven-verse rotation.
Does the daily Quran verse change every day?
Yes. The website selects the next verse in its seven-verse rotation each UTC day. An already-open tab or embed updates when refreshed; the app has its own verse selection.
Can I read the daily ayah without downloading an app?
Yes. This page displays the complete verse without an app or account. Downloading Quran Widget is optional if you want a verse on your phone’s Home Screen or iPhone Lock Screen.
